Basic information about Valif 20 mg

Valif 20 mg is a generic version of Levitra, a full substitute for Levitra in the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men.

It contains the same active ingredient, vardenafil, which significantly promotes blood flow to the penis, enabling the achievement and maintenance of a sufficiently firm erection for sexual intercourse. Valif 20 mg tablets are produced by Ajanta Pharma Limited, an Indian pharmaceutical company.

Active ingredient

The active ingredient vardenafil (for more information about the active ingredient, see the article on Vardenafil) significantly promotes the relaxation of smooth muscle cells in the blood vessels and increases blood flow to the penis. It works by reducing the effect of a naturally occurring chemical in your body that causes the decline of an erection.

Dosage and administration

The usual dose of the medication is 10 mg. Depending on the need and tolerability, it can be decreased to 5 mg or increased to a maximum of 20 mg in a single dose once a day. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose of 20 mg.

Valif 20 mg is not an aphrodisiac. Sexual stimulation is necessary to achieve the desired effect.

Valif 20 mg should be taken 30-60 minutes before sexual intercourse, and its effect lasts for 4-6 hours. The medication should not be combined with alcohol, fatty foods, grapefruit, or grapefruit juice.

Contraindications

You must not take Valif 20 mg if you:

• are allergic to vardenafil or any other component of this medication (e.g., aspartame, sorbitol)
• have severe cardiovascular disease, and sexual activity is not recommended for you
• have recently had a stroke, heart attack, or if you have hypertension (high blood pressure) or hypotension (blood pressure <90/50 mmHg).
• have been diagnosed with congenital prolonged QT interval
• have left ventricular outflow obstruction (aortic stenosis or idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis)
• have angina pectoris or take nitrates (such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate) or nitric oxide-releasing medications (such as isoamyl nitrite)
• have another serious heart or liver disorder
• are a patient with diagnosed kidney disease requiring dialysis
• you or someone in your family has a rare retinal disorder (such as retinitis pigmentosa) or you experience vision loss due to non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION).
• take guanylate cyclase stimulators (used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension), such as riociguat
• take medications for the treatment of HIV infection (indinavir, ritonavir)
• already take another medication for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Warning

Consult your doctor before starting to use medications containing vardenafil if you have experienced:

• heart problems (such as arrhythmias), kidney problems, liver problems, or blood pressure issues
• peptic ulcer (gastric ulcer)
• bleeding disorders (such as hemophilia)
• sickle cell anemia, leukemia, or multiple myeloma
• Peyronie's disease or other penile deformities (angulation, cavernous fibrosis).

The concurrent use of Valif 20 mg with other medications requires approval from your attending physician.

If you have liver or kidney impairment, inform your doctor about this. They will assess whether dosage adjustment is necessary. The usual starting dose in such cases is 5 mg per day.

The concurrent use of vardenafil with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors is contraindicated in individuals over 75 years of age (ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, indinavir).

Possible side effects of the medication

During the use of medications containing the active ingredient vardenafil, mild to moderate side effects may occur. They are usually of short duration. The most commonly reported side effects include headache, nausea, digestive difficulties, hot flashes, sensitivity to light, stuffy nose, and dizziness.

Important warning

If you experience sudden worsening of vision, worsening of hearing, blood in urine or cloudy urine, or if an erection persists for more than 4 hours, especially if it is not caused by sexual stimulation and is accompanied by pain, seek medical assistance immediately.

Also, seek immediate medical help for any unusual reaction or sudden worsening of your health condition associated with the use of the medication. And if common side effects persist for an extended period.
